Course Details: Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is an emergency procedure that combines chest compressions. often with article ventilation in an effort to manually preserve intact brain function until further measures are taken to restore blood circulation in the event of cardiac arrest. CPR alone is unlikely to restart the heart. The objective is to delay tissue death until administration of an electrical shock to the subjects heart termed defibrillation. This is accomplished with the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).
